We’re wrapping up this year so quickly. It’s amazing how time has just flown by, but the challenges of 2020 have not escaped me.  I don’t have to list them, but even if I did, I probably couldn’t name all the challenges. Nevertheless, here we are.

But how? Some may be praising their survival skills learned on childhood camping trips.  You know the ones where you earn badges for practical skills.  Some have relied heavily on their education. They tend to be the ones who face every problem confidently, putting their smarts to good use.    Then there are the ones who knew just who to call for help, friends in high places.  You may fall in one or all of these slots, and it’s okay. There’s a valid place for our skills, education, and connections.

As a little girl I didn’t go to girl’s camp, but I watched my mom pull together the most delicious meals out of scraps.   I’m kind of a career learner so I try to use my head. Anyway, while I’m grateful for those experiences, I have to be honest and tell you that none of those things have brought me through this pandemic.  I can’t look at the trials of this year without looking at the tools I was forced to develop and strengthen. My greatest survival tool is my faith.

Don’t get me wrong, it hasn’t been all praise dancing and clapping. I’ve shed some tears and at times felt utterly overwhelmed. Sometimes I gave into the weight, and other times, I fought like crazy. Underneath it all, I never lost sight of my faith. I chose to keep it on my mind. In fact, I made a conscious effort to hold on to my faith. I started rephrasing my problems in the form of solutions. I talked to myself probably more than most would say is normal. And I leaned heavily on my prayer partners. As it turns out, I have a friend in the highest place. Where would I be without my God?

I’m not bragging by any means. It’s just that I think it’s important during these trying times to share how we’re doing and what coping looks like for us. When we share our wins, we all win.

You don’t have to build a new business today or figure out the rest of your life right now. Just take a deep breath and survive. Just like that you’re coping. You’re surviving. You are winning!

Don’t underestimate the power of just being. Breathing is big!

STRENGTHEN. HEAL. EMPOWER. THAT’S VICTORY!

P.S. Here’s a couple of my go-to scriptures when I’m feeling stressed or just tired.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13
