When I woke up this morning, I saw that women were celebrating each other all over the nation. It gave me a boost I really didn’t expect. Immediately, I began to think of all the extraordinary women that have crossed my path. I’ve been blessed to meet women who are strong, independent, intelligent, and creative. Whether they know it or not, they have each poured little bit of joy in me, filling me in my lowest hours.
This of course, sent me on a journey of self-exploration. Am I woman that has encouraged a tired soul to soldier on? Have I used my pain to inspire purpose in a hurting woman? Have I created a healing atmosphere for a woman who just needs to be heard? Without reservation, I can say, I have tried. And I’m not done yet!
The beauty of being a woman is that we can be resilient and tendert at the same time. Our hearts seem to swell to capacities that we know not of until the swelling is needed. With brilliance and ingenuity, our minds fuel the spaces we inhabit. We are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made. We are worthy to be celebrated.
To every woman pushing to make this world a better place, thank you! Thank you for your light and your inspiration. In honor of International Women’s Day, let me say: Shine on, Sister! Shine on!
