I absolutely love words. I love how we can communicate almost in code. Of course, I like people to say what they mean, but sometimes, it’s fun to listen for hidden meanings. “Barking up the wrong tree” is one of my personal favorites. I mean, why all the barking anyway? If there is something you want, just go after it. You don’t have to announce yourself. When dogs bark they are trying to either alert someone or scare their prey. When you have your eyes set on a goal, you don’t have to announce it to the world. Now if you are preying on someone to get what you want, well, you already know how that will turn out.

Anyway, my daughter and I took my grandsons to the movie. As we chomped on popcorn, a huge giant made of rock, was sleeping peacefully on the screen. As the story goes, he had been asleep for quite some time. When he was awakened, it was to carry out a task that only the giant could do. This stirred me up! I knew right then that I needed to tell you something.

Some people say, “let sleeping dogs lie”. Usually that means don’t make trouble. That’s not the case for sleeping giants. Sleeping giants are people who have great power within but haven’t reached their full potential. They are people who have gifts they have allowed to “sleep” for quite some time.

You already know where I am going with this, but let me just put it out here: Wake up your sleeping giants. There are some things that will only be done in your life when your giant is fully awake and active. Whether it is the gift of encouragement, business smarts, or public speaking, wake it up!

Chances are, I’m not telling you anything that you don’t already know. So why aren’t you using every gift God has given you? Sometimes we are asking God to bless us, but he has put the gift in us that will cause those blessings to manifest. I encourage you today wake up your sleeping giant.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

Strengthen. Heal. Empower. Victory.
