Welcome to SheVictory! I am so glad that you are here!  If you are looking for a little inspiration, encouragement, or just a laugh, you’ve come to the right place. With the demands and cares of everyday, we can get a bit worn.  Is it just me? No, I didn’t think so.

For my first post, I’d like to talk to you a few minutes about simple perspective.  Ever had one of those days? You know, the kind of day that feels like the universe has conspired against you? When you wake up for work, you realize that you’ve hit the snooze more times than you should have, and now you’re going to be late for work.  After barely getting a good shower, you rush outside to your car with three ready wheels and a flat.  If you didn’t know better, you would swear you saw the hubcap smirking at your misfortune! When you finally take a breath and get in a cab, it occurs to you that today is a holiday. Oh yeah, you’re off today.  Well by now, you’re either thinking my life is awful, or you’re sighing in relief that you aren’t the only one who has those days.

I have to be honest, I have found myself getting frustrated with life in general. Negative thoughts creep in trying to convince me that is my lot in life.  Bad things will always happen to me.  Other people experience joy and happiness everyday, but that’s not for me.  This overgeneralization can cause so much unwarranted and unnecessary anxiety.  That anxiety can attach itself to our self esteem and really ruin our outlook on life. Practicing what I call “simple perspective”, can turn a bad day around.  Let me explain. In the example above, instead of feeling like a fool for not realizing it was my day off, I can be grateful that I’m not late for work.  Not only is there no harm done, but now that I’m out, I can treat myself to a warm yummy latte and really enjoy the day. The circumstances of the day do not control how I feel about myself as a person. I’m not a failure who can’t do anything right. I’m a hard working woman determined to do my best everyday.

Practicing simple perspective may not save your life, but it could give you more moments of calm and purpose. Yes, I know I make it sound so easy, but that’s not my intent.  I really hope to make it sound possible! When I began my journey of peace in this area, I have to admit, perspective wasn’t my first reaction.  In fact, some days, I wanted to either throw my breakfast or collapse into a puddle of tears. Truthfully, some days, I did both, but that’s another story for another day.  Finding a greater perspective actually takes practice.  As you know, there will be plenty of opportunities to practice! Use them instead of letting those circumstances use you!

So the next time your puppy tinkles in your favorite high heels, don’t get mad.  Go shopping!

For I know the thought that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end,  Jeremiah 29:11
