It’s been a minute! Yeah, I know. These last few weeks have been a crazy ride. I’m sure you can relate. I used to say, “if it ain’t one thing it’s another”, but I don’t even bother with that anymore. Now let me be clear, I still know better than to say, “What else could go wrong?”
Some days I have been pretty productive, and other days, just getting dressed feels like an accomplishment. One thing that has been a consistent part of my self-care routine is listening to an audio book every night. It’s how I wind down.
Well the last book I chose was by one of my favorite authors. She usually writes gripping dramatic stories exploring the strength of love, family connections, and community. Every story has a moral dilemma that makes me stop and examine how I would feel in that character’s shoes. Sometimes I get too attached to characters, but that’s what every author wants, right?
Let me get to the point here. I was indeed attached to the characters in this book, but something was off. I couldn’t seem to stay focused or really enjoy the plot. In fact, a few times I just wanted to throw the whole book out and get a new one. I didn’t do that though because of the author. She always comes through for me. I don’t think there is one book of hers that I have not enjoyed. I recommend her to everyone that ask and even those who don’t ask!
So, I hung in there with this book. Even when I felt like giving up, I kept hitting play. I just knew that any minute now, this book would take off for me. At any given second the writer would make me glad I stayed.
What was I doing? I was chasing hope! Sometimes life isn’t what we want it to be. We don’t have the new job. We can’t see pass the current chapter we are enduring, and we don’t know how things are going to turn out.
I know I’m not the only one who sometimes thinks, “just throw the whole day away!” You know what keeps me going? I personally know THE AUTHOR! God never promised me that things would always be great, but he promised to always be with me. Every day that I get up, I am turning the page toward the plan he has for me! I am chasing hope.
No writer writes half a book and then leaves the rest to just anybody to fill in. God has not left your life up to chance or even up to you! He has an amazing story unfolding right before your eyes. I know it gets difficult to hope, but remember, you know THE AUTHOR! If that’s not enough to keep you hoping, remember THE AUTHOR knows you! You matter to him. He doesn’t write mediocre endings. He doesn’t create unloved characters. He writes best sellers.
Keep chasing hope for your situation. It’s not over for you. God has your best interest at heart and a destination that will blow your mind!
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
Strengthen. Heal. Empower.
